Sean Bean sits in a leather armchair in his flat in sunny Manchester and ponders on life, love and the telephone. The drink in his hand is largely untouched, it is early after all, only just after 2pm.

So Dominic is considering telling Elijah? Stupid Dominic. Sweet, stupid Dominic. Dominic of the firm flesh and hot mouth. In New Zealand, Sean had watched the young man with casual interest, his main prey during that period was Orlando, but that was a coupling that was never meant to be. Sean is wistful at the thought , but his mind turns again to Dominic and their drunken tryst, and he is hardening at the recollection, twisting in the leather chair.

It had started out as just a drink between mates. Dominic lives in the city when he is not touting for work in the States, and Sean is filming at Granada Studios – "Othello". He is Iago. The filming has been a joy, it is wonderful to work with such talented, dedicated actors and technicians, it is reminiscent of the Fellowship in that respect. And Iago is a dream to play – manipulative, sly scheming. Yesterday and today were free days and Sean had been happy to meet Dominic for a pint. Which turned to six, then back to his place for food and more talk.

One minute, Dominic was giggling and gushing about Elijah and what a fantastically lucky guy he was to have him, the next minute they were on the floor. For the next half hour, Sean made the most of young Mr Monaghan. Not that Dominic was trying to stop him, no way. The sex started off playfully and just got hotter and more intense. Sean knew that Dominic would have settled for some lazy mutual masturbation but that was not going to happen. Problematically, the lube was in the bedroom and they were in the den. No way was Sean going to get up and give Dominic a chance to reassess the situation and back out. Well, who needed lube?

Sean ducked down and fixed his mouth on Dominic's inner thigh, his rough tongue grazing the sac, which sent the young man into a frenzy, almost concussing himself as he arched his back and banged his head on the wooden floor.

Then the big man was back up and licking his lips in a feral way that made Dominic gasp. When Sean's fingers insinuated themselves into his body he gasped even more, but Sean's eyes were fixed on Dominic's and he held him in a close, musky embrace. If Dominic wanted out, now was his chance, but did he? Hadn't he wanted this to happen all along? Sean was exuding sex and encompassing Dominic and Dominic had no desire to escape, and Sean knew it. Fingers. Probing. Hearts beating faster and faster.

"Relax," grunted Sean, his breath hot on Dominic's chest. "Trust me, I know what I'm doing. There. Ready?" And Dominic was.

"Fuck me then." Dominic said, and Sean grinned, kissing him until they were both choking for breath.

Sean felt Dominic go limp and at that moment he changed gear and the world tilted. For the next few minutes nothing existed for Sean but friction and thrust. Dominic mouthed at Sean's meaty shoulder, falling into the grinding rhythm. Now the movements were faster, harder, and Sean raised the younger man higher, until his knees bent to meet his chest.

"God! This hurts… It should stop. It should never, ever stop," whispered Dominic. Blood pounding in his eardrums, Sean's hair falling over his face and then Dominic had begun to spasm and Sean was labouring. Over. Sean released Dominic's aching knees and withdrew.

From his body. From his space.

They lay apart, on the crumpled rug on the shiny wooden floor of Sean's luxurious rented flat. Sean, spread-eagled like a newborn baby, began to snore gently.

In the early hours of the morning, Sean awoke, cold and cramped and found himself alone.

The phone is ringing. The sound has broken his reverie and Sean removes his hand from his trousers. He composes himself for a second, then answers.

"Sean? Is that you?"

"Yes, its me. How lovely to hear from you, Elijah."

Elijah sits in the leather armchair in the luxurious rented flat and hold his head in his hands. For a moment Sean is reminded of a boy he knew at school who was tormented because his parents were hippies; his body is language very similar to that of the distressed boy. He dismisses the image. Elijah is nothing like that boy, Elijah is nothing like any other boy.

"Let me get you a drink, " he says, allowing his hand to rest on Elijah's slim shoulder. He feels the warmth through the fabric and his tongue has suddenly left his mouth and is licking his lips, though when Elijah glances up there is nothing to see but kindness and concern.

"He slept with someone. Dominic slept with someone." Elijah is bewildered, and tears are spilling down soft white cheeks. Sean feels the urge to lick those tears away but he merely sits down opposite Elijah and waits.

"Did he tell you who it was?", he asks, solicitously.

"No! I begged him, demanded he tell me, but no. I feel sick, Sean, really sick. He's protecting someone, some fucking prick. It doesn't make any sense, none of it. What did I do wrong?" Elijah is now pleading with Sean, his soul in torment, and Sean believes that he has never seen such pretty eyelashes in his life. The nose, too. Very pretty. And that mouth, that is a mouth waiting to be anointed, anything it has done thus far is childs play and he has such grown up things in mind for Elijah's budding lips.

"Elijah, Dominic loves you." Sean can do serious and conciliatory.

"I thought so too! But he can't, can he? Not if he can do this!"

Sean has left the chair and is kneeling before Elijah. He must time this perfectly. Dominic was drunk. Can he get Elijah drunk? Somehow he doesn't think that will work. And he wants this to happen sober, wants to remember every second, every sensation.

What a strange game he is playing, even to himself it seems insane, but there is something at work here, a need to manipulate and control. Why has he never felt like this before, when it is so incredibly good to have this power? Guilt surfaces and might even win the day, but Sean has a penis that is now rock hard and that is so much more of an influence.

"Elijah. If you love him, you should forgive him. You can't throw a relationship like yours away, not just because of this one silly indiscretion." Sean is speaking very softly now, his eyes have captured Elijah's, and Elijah looks down to find that his small hands are being caressed very gently. If he is surprised, he says nothing, just allows a tear to course down his face.

"You are right, I know, but it hurts like hell. I never, ever looked at anyone else while we were apart, and I had my chances!" Elijah grins sloppily at that last statement, but is soon miserable and hurt and confused again. Just the way Sean wants him.

"I love you, Elijah." The words hang in the air for a moment and Elijah is frowning at Sean. "I mean," says Sean quickly, as if he is angry at himself for the slip, "I mean, I love you both. Both of you."

Elijah hesitates for a bare moment, then falls into his arms and Sean pats his back, soothingly. He wonders if he will have any friends left when he is through. Wonders but does not stop.

"Sean. You are a good friend. Thank you." Elijah is beaming at Sean, his eyes are big enough and sparkly enough at the best of times, now they are like twin lighthouse beams, and for a second Sean squirms. For a second.

Sean's mouth is very close to Elijah's mouth. His hand is still describing slow, intense circles on Elijah's warm back, and if he leans just a little closer in-

The telephone rings.

Elijah is startled and stiffens. Sean is startled and is already stiff.

He reaches over and nonchalantly rejects the call and switches off the phone.

Elijah sees Sean as if for the first time, as if he is noticing the physicality of the big man anew. It pleases Sean immensely, this naked assessment of his maleness. He allows the mask to slip, just a fraction. Elijah is permitted to see the man inside the friend, powerful, seductive and sexual. Then the kindly Sean is back and Elijah blinks.

Elijah's cell phone begins its irritating clarion call and Sean bristles. He watches as Elijah reaches into his jacket pocket to retrieve the phone.

"Leave it, Elijah." The words are gentle but Elijah stops mid-reach and the phone eventually goes onto divert and voicemail.

"It was probably Dominic, " he says, and his voice catches in his throat. Sean feeds on that catch.

"Turn it off completely. Let him stew for a while, Elijah. He'll be alright, he knows who he was with, what happened that night, you don't."

Elijah is confused.

"But you said I should forgive him," he says plaintively, his hand finding his mouth and his mouth suckling his fingers.

"Forgive, yes. But don't be a fucking doormat, Elijah." The words are very sweet and laced with tenderness, despite the profanity.

"Two can play at his game, Elijah…."

Elijah is confused. Then an idea forms. It is his own idea, his very own. He feels guilty to even consider using Sean like this, Sean is a good friend. But he senses Sean may be a little interested, and Sean is gorgeous.

It is wrong, very wrong. But Elijah is terribly hurt and Dominic need never know. Elijah will know, and he will feel somehow that a debt has been paid. Then perhaps he can forgive Dominic. But will Sean forgive him for using him in this way?

Can he risk the friendship of this friend, who has stood by him when he needed him the most?

Elijah's ethical code has kicked in and he has almost dismissed the idea, is readying himself to leave, when Sean lays his hand on him and says, with such heartbreaking sincerity, that Elijah reminds him so much right now of a boy he knew at school.

"That boy had just been betrayed, too, Elijah. I loved him, we became lovers. He was my first. You remind me of him, Elijah. That boy broke my heart."

They kiss.
